David Tomlinson

David Tomlinson is the Emmett Technique and Bowen Therapist at Helmsley Natural Health which also offers chiropody services two days per week.

David discovered the Bowen Technique many years ago after injuring his elbow and shoulder playing squash. At the time Bowen was unknown in the UK. A friend recommended someone who had treated her for similar injuries. A few days later he found himself talking to an Australian therapist. David had a very painful case of tennis elbow and couldn’t lift his arm above shoulder height.

Over the next 30 minutes the therapist made seemingly insignificant moves over his knee, lower back and elbow. To his utter amazement the tennis elbow had gone and his arm and shoulder had got back their strength and movement. He also had treatment for injuries to his back and ankles with equally impressive results. So it is no surprise that when he decided to change direction after a career in education David decided to train as a Bowen Therapist with the European College of Bowen Studies.

More recently David was looking for an effective ‘quick’ response for ‘cricked’necks. He discovered the Emm Tech short course from a recommendation from another therapist. It made such an startling difference to how quickly clients gained relief from immobility and pain that he immediately started the full professional training. He is now a full Emmett Practitioner and was a licensed tutor for the Emm Tech short course. David now combines Emmett and Bowen in every session unless clients ask for a specific treatment, with clients often getting immediate and dramatic results even during the first session.

David is a qualified Emmett Practitioner and was one of the first twelve Emm-Tech Tutors in the UK. He is a full member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, which means that he is fully insured and abides by formal codes of ethics and conduct. He is qualified in Anatomy and Physiology and First Aid and completes at least three days additional training each year. He was one of the first Bowen therapists to have been accepted onto the Government backed “Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council Official Register”, which is the Gold Standard Register for Certified therapists. Plus he is a member of the NHS Directory of complementary therapies.

He is still constantly amazed at the results of these rapidly growing therapies.
